Project Description

Marcia Dale Weary teaching one of her students in class at the ‘Barn’. Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Carlisle, 2011
Marcia Dale Weary
1936-2019
Both of these beautiful images bring back vivid memories for me. I remember like it was yesterday being the little girl whose head Marcia would put her hand over to encourage me to jump high enough to make contact. I remember like it was yesterday being the little girl whose arms would be circled by Marcia to help me feel the position of my port de bras more clearly. Both pictures show the challenges and the warmth with which she taught. Nothing brought me more gratification than getting a “good!” from her. I hope to do the same for my students today. Not a day goes by that I don’t think of her, miss her, and continue to feel guided by her.
